Building Resilience Summer Term Programme

This term in our Building Resilience programme, we are focusing on Challenge your Mindset.

People who believe that we are born artists, athletes or scientists have a fixed mindset about themselves and others. They believe that learning potential and ability are fixed and can be measured.

Primary 6 - Author visit and competiton winners

The author Moira Cormack and illustrator Valerie Hardie came to Victoria to run a session with Primary 6. It was a very interesting and worthwhile  insight into their work.

Also, Esther and Jake won an art competition to win a copy of The Witch of Land and Sea by Moira Cormack and a wristband.

Congratulations to you both!

Building Resilience Programme

This term at Victoria Primary School we have started a new Health and Wellbeing programme called Building Resilience. Miss Campbell has been working as part of a development group to create new materials for schools across Edinburgh to develop resilience in children.

Thank you for supporting Childline

Our recent bake sale helped raised a fantastic £485 for Childline!

Well done and thank you to everybody for the huge effort and the wonderful baking.

Playground News

We are all so excited about our new playground. Last session we were awarded just over £7000 from the National Lottery Awards for All grants scheme and have worked closely with playground developers Scotplay to design and create all the markings and equipment for our new playground.

The Victorian Schoolroom

Primary 4/5 visited the Victorian Schoolroom at Leith Walk Primary School last week. The children dressed up in traditional Victorian schoolchildren’s clothes and got to sit at real Victorian desks with inkwells. Miss Campbell and Miss Hickman had to dress up too because they were pretending to be P7s! We all learnt about Victorian punishments – some children were very glad that we don’t have the cutty chair or wiggle board nowadays!
