Building Resilience - Talk Things Over

This term we are learning to Talk Things Over when we feel worried. Children will learn how worries affect our wellbeing and what we can do to deal with them to stop them escalating. This includes strategies like writing them down, talking them over, realising things will pass and asking for help.

We will be learning that:

• At times we all feel worried

Making faces in Outdoor Learning

This week in our outdoor learning activities we used clay and natural materials to make a woodland face .

Here are some of our favourites!

Enjoying the outdoors

Some of our pupils are taking part in the Forest Schools project.

They were looking outdoors for signs of Autumn now that the season is changing.

They used things that they found to build interesting objects and would like to share photos of them with you.

Building Resilience Update

This term we are focusing on Take a Moment. In this unit, the children will learn that when we experience a stressful time, it is important to put down our anchor and take a moment to breathe. He will help them to explore unhelpful and helpful ways to manage stressful moments and better support our wellbeing. Through this unit the children will learn about stress. It emphasises that stress is normal and can be helpful to motivate us and enable us to meet new challenges.

Park Smart Pledge

Victoria Primary School would like to thank everybody who took part in our PARK SMART PLEDGE.

The results were fantastic!

We hope to keep moving forward on the safety of all outside the school gates.

Doors Open Day at Victoria

We had almost 200 visitors on Saturday to our first Doors Open Day organised by Newhaven Heritage Group and Victoria Primary School. With many coming from far afield to visit their old Primary School for the first time in decades, it was a great day and was enjoyed by all. There were talks, tours of the school, our Victorian Tea Room, exhibitions and lots of reminiscences shared between ex and current pupils. Thank you to all who made it such a great success.

Building Resilience Summer Term Programme

This term in our Building Resilience programme, we are focusing on Challenge your Mindset.

People who believe that we are born artists, athletes or scientists have a fixed mindset about themselves and others. They believe that learning potential and ability are fixed and can be measured.
